Rev. Juan Barrientez Sr.,  Pastor Emeritus

Dr. Juan Barrientez, Sr. served the church faithfully for 14 years as its pastor, and believes in strong Bible preaching and teaching. He has a desire to see the people of God mature spiritually.

He was wedded to the lovely Vanessa Roland June 1, 1973 and was blessed with two sons (Pastor Juan P. Barrientez II and Deacon Jason Barrientez) through this union. Pastor Barrientez also has four grandchildren (Ashley, Ki’Juana, Imani, and Aniya)

Pastor Barrientez began in the ministry in 1984 and served under the late Dr. Dewitt Roland of St. Luke Baptist Church of Spencer, Oklahoma. Pastor Barrientez also spent time teaching at Classen Boulevard Baptist Church before accepting the call of Assistant Pastor at Shield of Faith under Rev. Charles Roland. Pastor Barrientez has Obtained a Certificate in Pastoral Studies and others from the Oklahoma School of Religion. On September 10, 2006 Pastor Barrientez received and Honorary Doctor of Sacred Literature degree from Mount Carmel Institute of Biblical Studies (Las Angeles).

Under the pastorate of Pastor Barrientez Shield of Faith Missionary Baptist Church has seen many first in its history including becoming owners and not just renters. Currently, Shield of Faith Missionary Baptist Church is debt-free occupying our current property at 20th and Everest and are preparing for the future blessings of God.
